I was really excited when I brought this tape. I remember having it at my grandmother’s house, where I would go to after school. I was in the kitchen staring at the front cover, mesmerized by the winged cupid smoking a cigarette, thinking how cool and naughty he was. I was an innocent 14 year old obsessed with sport so smoking, beer or anything ‘out of bounds’ had yet to descend on me. Continue reading Van Halen ‘1984’

Partying on in God’s Waiting Room

Who says getting old can be a drag. Yes, there are the aches and pains. Getting around is harder and walkers, scooters and canes are ready to go on any outdoor adventure. A ride in an ambulance is just a slip away and occasionally there will be the inevitable funeral to get dressed up for plus more visits to the doctor. Continue reading Partying on in God’s Waiting Room
Riding off into the Sunset
Peyton Manning could do it. Pete Sampras did it after winning the 2002 US Open; Rocky Marciano did it after defending his Boxing Heavyweight Championship in 1955 and John Elway did it after winning Super Bowl 33. They are all athletes who won the biggest event in their respective sports and promptly rode off into the sunset, cementing their status as legends by going out in the best way possible. Super Bowl 50
The Golden NFL shield says it all. The historic milestone is almost here. The Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers will play the 50th Super Bowl this Sunday American time. To mark the occasion the NFL all season has turned their famous shield ‘gold’. What started out in 1967 as Super Bowl 1, after an agreement between rival leagues, the NFL and the AFL, ‘the merger’ created a game that has become so big that an estimated 120 million viewers will watch it just in American households. It’s the Nick Kyrgios Show
Nick Kyrgios. If I randomly selected ten people on the street and said that name I’d get a mix of reactions, admittedly some of them not very complimentary. Kyrgios has become polarizing and I’ve heard every opinion under the sun about him, “He’s only 20, what do you expect”, “I think he is a breath of fresh air”, “He needs to be banned”, and “He goes too far”.
The Revenant
This movie isn’t for everyone; let me get that out first. Some of the scenes are the most graphic you’ll ever see. In saying that, Leonardo DiCaprio gives an astonishing performance in a tale of survival and revenge that makes you feel like you are right there with him. Oscar should come knocking. Australian Open Preview
Its that time of year again, when the exhibition grab for cash circus had rolled out of town and the season that matters begins. With lead-up events happening around the world the Australian Open is literally days away. We’ve just had a year when two players absolutely dominated their respective tours, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic. The two icons coming within a match or two of winning the Calendar year Grand Slam. Continue reading Australian Open Preview
Aria
Aria is on my wish list, its time to take it off. The Matt Moran owned restaurant with 2 Chef’s Hats and a view that no mere mortal could afford little own wish for, which overlooks Sydney Harbour. Continue reading Aria
Would you vote for Trump?
There’s a force of personality that’s shattering the American Political landscape. Depending on where your allegiances are, its either the proverbial bull in the China Shop that’s leaving all kinds of chaos in its wake and stretching acceptable rhetoric to breaking point or it’s a godsend designed to shake up a broken system and put Political Correctness on its ass. Continue reading Would you vote for Trump?
China Doll
Bun is away right now but far be it for me to deny my culinary cravings and stay home alone. So, I find myself flying solo at China Doll for a lazy lunch.
Sitting pretty on Finger Wharf at Woolloomooloo this Asian cuisine hotspot really has one of the prime locations in Sydney.
